We are looking for a skilled and experienced Linux Engineer to join our IT team. The Linux Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of Linux-based systems and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Linux administration, scripting, and troubleshooting, along with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Design, deploy, configure, and maintain Linux server operating systems and related infrastructure components.
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux distributions such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, or Ubuntu.
- Monitor and optimize server performance, ensuring high availability and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to Linux-based systems and applications.
- Implement and manage virtualization technologies, such as KVM or VMware, for Linux environments.
- Automate system administration tasks using scripting languages like Bash or Python.
- Conduct system audits and implement security best practices to protect Linux server infrastructure.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of Linux systems with network, storage, and security infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including system configurations, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Participate in capacity planning and performance tuning activities to optimize system performance.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and advancements in Linux technologies.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end users and other IT teams.
- Collaborate with vendors and service providers to resolve technical issues and implement system upgrades.
- Participate in project planning and implementation of new technologies or system enhancements.
- Ensure compliance with IT policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Linux Engineer or similar role, with a strong focus on Linux server administration.
- In-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems, such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or CentOS.
- Experience with virtualization technologies, such as KVM, VMware, or Docker.
- Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash, Python, or Perl for automation and system management.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools like Ansible or Puppet is a plus.
- Relevant certifications such as Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC) are advantageous.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms, such as AWS or Azure, is a plus.
- Familiarity with ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) framework and best practices.
