The Opportunity:
We are looking for Nurse Educator to join us in the delivery of training content and clinical supervision of staff and nursing students. He/She will work in collaboration with the Nurse Clinicians/ Nurse Managers in the Operating Theatre to achieve academic and clinical excellence in the peri-operative setting.
Job Responsibilities:
· Conducts learning needs analysis to identify learning gaps and training needs of nurses.
· Assesses, plans and implements programmes for nurses according to learning needs identified.
· Develops curriculum in collaboration with the nurse clinicians based on clinical discipline and patient care needs.
· Reviews and revises existing curriculum following constructive feedback on training/ practice to meet current educational needs and standards.
· Participates in the planning, development and implementation of e-learning resources.
· Evaluates effectiveness and outcomes of training programmes rendered.
· Oversees the upkeep of training records according to institution and accreditation standards.
· Serves as resource person in clinical training to provide quality standards of care.
· Plans and provides direct clinical supervision of nurses and nursing students.
· Assesses suitability of clinical environment for learning and makes appropriate suggestions for improvement based on nurses’ and students’ feedback.
· Collaborates with supervisors, clinical instructors (CIs) and preceptors and develop action plans to improve nurses’ and students’ learning experiences.
· Utilizes effective teaching strategies to develop critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills among students and nurses.
· Conducts orientation, training and continuing education activities to maintain nurses’ competencies.
· Analyses and reports training utilisation rate, evaluation and assessment outcome.
· Coaches preceptors and CIs on their roles, responsibilities, assessment of performance, etc.
· Seeks educational opportunities to maintain current and acquire new knowledge, competencies related to nursing practice.
· Mentors and inducts potential senior staff nurses for clinical instructor track.
· Conducts career coaching and discusses staff development with respective nurse supervisors.
Job Requirements:
· Degree in Nursing from recognized training institution as approved by Singapore Nursing Board and an Advanced Diploma in Nursing or Post basic certificate in Nursing
· A teaching qualification would be an advantage.
· Registered Nurse with at least 9 years of post-registration clinical experience in the operating theatre, of which one (1) year must be in clinical teaching/education department at an acute hospital setting or professional institute.
· Fluent in spoken and written English
· Possesses good interpersonal and communication skills
· Is proficient in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
· Displays compassion and have a positive and caring attitude
